What FWBC can assist with
FWBC is responsible for ensuring cooperative, productive and harmonious workplace relations in the building industry. It does this by enforcing workplace relations laws in the building and construction industry and ensuring compliance with those laws by all participants in the building and construction industry through the provision of education, assistance and advice.
FWBC’s core business areas are Coercion, Freedom of Association, Right of Entry, Unlawful Industrial Action, and the Building Code 2013.
What FWBC cannot assist with
In December 2013, the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) resumed responsibility for Wages and Entitlements and Sham Contracting matters. If you have a question about the payment of wages, your entitlements as an employee or contractor, or suspected sham contracting arrangements, please contact the Fair Work Infoline on 13 13 94.
FWBC does not have jurisdiction over Work Health & Safety (WHS) related matters. A list of Federal, State and Territory bodies that may be able to provide assistance with WHS issues is available on our Work Health & Safety page.
Issues and disputes related to domestic building, as well as licencing and permits, are managed by local State and Territory authorities.
To speak with FWBC for confidential advice or assistance with any of our core business areas, please call our hotline on 1800 003 338 from 7am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
